Tie the Knot is coming to a restaurant near you! If you live in Washington, D.C., or Chicago, that is. Celebrity Chef Art Smith has just purchased Tie the Knot bow ties for the entire staff of both his Chicago restaurant, Table Fifty Two, and Art & Soul in the nation’s capital!
Art Smith has quite the impressive culinary resume, including his time spent as personal chef to Bob Graham, Jeb Bush, and Oprah Winfrey! His southern dishes have been published in his two cookbooks, Back to the Table and Kitchen Life, and his restaurants are highly rated in the Chicago and DC areas.
However, Art Smith is more than just a chef – he’s a humanitarian and an advocate for equal rights. His personal foundation, Common Threads, teaches children about different cultures through food. The James Beard Foundation named him 2007’s Humanitarian of the Year. He is also a gay man himself, and has been a voice in the community for LGBT equality.
We want to thank you, Art, for taking a step in showing restaurant owners that they have the power to assign more than just a typical uniform to their staff. They could and should use the opportunity to advocate for equality (and style, if we do say so ourselves)! And come on, how great do these guys look in their brand new Tie the Knot bow ties?
